Lesson On How Not To Investigate Benghazi

Our Lackluster Congress

I’m fit to be tied.  For 7 months our politicians have procrastinated, postured, showed up on news shows and acted like they were “working hard” to investigate Benghazi.  What a joke.  They look good on TV and make promises but when “push comes to shove” they wilt like flowers needing water.

End The Cover-up

End The Cover-up

I had hopes that Senators McCain, Graham and Ayotte would in fact bring enough pressure to bear to uncover the Benghazi cover-up.

GOP Representative Jason Chaffetz spent a lot of time on Fox News expressing great concern for the 33+ Benghazi survivors (if in fact they really survived – no word from them in 206 days!!). I believed him, looked truly concerned.

Then there is Representative Trey Gowdy of South Carolina, if ever there was someone that I believed really would get to the heart of the problem, it was him.

But alas, looks like I was conned. Now admittedly, I have no insight into the inner workings of our government behind closed doors, I am only a concerned American citizen.  We do not deserve to be privy to the behind closed door dealings.

Catherine Herridge of Fox News is reporting:

Before the recent congressional recess, House Speaker John Boehner convened a meeting of three leading Republican senators, John McCain of Arizona, Lindsey Graham of Florida and Kelly Ayotte of New Hampshire, as well as the chairmen of the house committees on Intelligence, Oversight and Foreign Affairs, respectively, who are leading their own investigations. Rather than form a select committee, a decision was made to coordinate and pool their findings, to be completed in “weeks, not months.”

Speaker John Boehner has done absolutely nothing on getting to the root of the Benghazi fiasco.  In

fact, my guess would be is that he has somehow threatened Chaffetz and Gowdy.  He has stonewalled issuing subpoenas for witnesses. And, he has not co-sponsored H. Res. 36

Only one GOP Representative has been Frank Wolf of Virginia.  He has been trying to get a House Select Committee to investigate Benghazi. 66 fellow GOP have co-sponsored this resolution with Rep. Wolf. Disgustingly, 160+ GOP Representatives can’t muster the backbone to support this resolution.

Then  Catherine Herridge continues with this ludicrous statement from Rep. Mike Rogers:

“We want to make sure that we have a full story of what happened, and where there are conflicting stories, we going to work to de-conflict them,” Intelligence Committee Chairman Rep. Mike Rogers told Fox News on Mar. 21.

Give me a break, “have a full story” & “coordinate and pool their findings” after SEVEN MONTHS.  The only Benghazi details that have been uncovered has been by a few gutsy journalists and most of the information uncovered was in the first week or so.  Our government and in particular the  GOP have not uncovered one whit of information in 209 days.  And they are going to “pool their findings in weeks not months”? At their rate it will be years.
